A real gem and rarity in our Japanese tea selection.

Japan Gyokuro Hiki originates from a eautiful tea garden near the river Hiki in the prefecture of Wakayama. The tea masters there create only a small amount of this tea and we are pleased to have been able to offer it amongst our green tea line up.

The leaves of this tea are very distinct looking, fine and thin with a dark green / silvery colour and an unmistakable sheen to them. When brewed they produce a liquor which is a bright golden colour and has a strong aroma of grassiness. 

On the palate the tea is quite thick and rich, smooth and intensely flavourful. If brewed correctly there is zero bitterness. The savoury umami notes make it moreish and we think it would be a wonderful tea to drink on it’s own or as a companion to food
