Discover Tea From Nepal
April 20, 2020Have you ever wondered about herbal tea and the health benefits it could offer?
The brewing of herbal tea and tisanes dates back thousands and thousands of years, and predates teas made from the camellia sinensis plant ( Black, Green, Oolong etc). The study and brewing of herbs has also been a part of medicinal systems such as Chinese and Indian/ Ayurvedic medicine, and for a good reason.
But which tea is right for you, your lifestyle and goals? We have so many to choose from, some are made from one herb, and others a blend of herbs and fruit.
Below we have listed just a few and how they could benefit your health in an enjoyable way! Of course we have many more which you can find here in our herbal blends section.
Natural ingredients can be potent so please don’t hesitate to ask us any questions, or ask your doctor for further advice. And of course always check the ingredients carefully!
Active
Active herbal blend is made with Yerba Mate, a herb which contains as much caffeine as coffee. But it is released in a steady way, meaning you get the boost without the jitters or crash.

Also included are ginseng for mental clarity and rooibos and liquorice. This is a great option for anyone who needs to keep their energy and focus up.
Camomile Tea
Camomile tea or chamomile (depending on where you are) is one of the most well known and widely drunk herbal teas. Made from the dried out flowers of Asteraceae plants, a family of beautiful daisy like plants which bloom in early summer. The name camomile means “earth apple”.

Camomile extract is used topically for skin issues and in many health and beauty products, so why is it so popular? Because of it’s soothing nature! Camomile tea has a soft earthy yet floral and naturally sweet taste, but it is also packed full of flavonoids and antioxidants which have anti-inflammatory and pain relieving qualities. These can help soothe the stomach, menstrual cramps, lower blood sugar and aid sleep.
We have many blends which contain camomile or pure camomile flowers like these, which can be enjoyed on their own or added to other loose leaf teas.
Note: Camomile contains a small amount of coumarin, something which can affect blood thinning medications, but usually only when used in high doses for a long time. Check with your doctor if you are unsure.
Detox
The ingredients of our Detox blend are specially selected to help your liver function, and help your body to detox itself.

Peppermint helps digestion along, while nettle leaf and dandelion bring a host of nutrients which benefit your skin, and hair. St John’s Wort has a calming effect which is great for mood and mental health.
Ginger and Turmeric
Ginger and turmeric are two of the most widely used ingredients in herbal medicines and have been for a long time. Both are known for their anti- inflammatory properties and high antioxidant levels.

Ginger in particular is great for decreasing nausea and for settling the stomach. And both are thought to increase the immune system. This infusion has a lovely warming yet soft herbal taste, to be enjoyed at any time of the day.

It can help reduce cholesterol levels, regulate blood pressure and strengthen the immune system. It also increases stamina and endurance despite being caffeine free.

Jiaogulan’s amazing health benefits come from the fact that it contains high levels of saponins. These give the plant adaptogenic and anti oxidative properties.
What is an adaptogen and how can it benefit the body? Adaptogens support the regulation of important functions like the endocrine, nervous and immune systems which are vital to having a healthy lifestyle. If you are a conscious herbal tea drinker we would recommend adding this to your tea selection!
