Formosa Butterfly of Taiwan Oolong is an open leaf “butterfly” style Oolong.
Formosa Butterfly of Taiwan Oolong has beautifully worked large open leaves with many shades of green and brown, and is produced only in the Taiwanese highlands.
Stopping the oxidisation process in the right moment leaves only the edges fermented, whereas the leaf centre remains green. The most experienced of tea masters are capable of doing this, and the reward is a fine quality tea which has a plumper leaf when compared to many Oolongs.
When infused the liquor shows a blaze of colour and beautiful clarity. This flavour has tea has a character with a pleasant sweetness and a slightly doughy note, similar in some ways to a black tea.
