October 25, 2024Vanilla & Coconut Matcha Latte …. A perfect beverage if you’re a fan of matcha lattes but want to add a sweet twist. The earthy flavour of matcha pairs beautifully with the smooth, sweet notes of vanilla, creating a balanced drink that’s both energising and indulgent. Whether you need a morning pick-me-up or a healthful mid-afternoon treat, this recipe will hit the spot.
Ingredients:
- 1 tsp matcha powder
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (or 1/4 tsp vanilla bean paste for a richer flavour)
- 1 tsp sweetener (honey, agave, or maple syrup work great)
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) hot water (not boiling, around 75 – 80°C)
- 3/4 cup ( 175 ml) coconutmilk
- Ice (for iced version)
Instructions:
How to prepare your vanilla and coconut matcha latte:
- Prepare the Matcha: In a small bowl, sift 1 tsp of matcha powder to remove any clumps. Add 1/4 cup of hot water (not boiling to preserve the matcha’s nutrients) and whisk vigorously in a zigzag motion until the matcha is fully dissolved and frothy. If you have a matcha whisk, that’s ideal, but an electric frother or small whisk will work too.
- Sweeten and Flavour: Stir in the vanilla extract and sweetener of your choice. Adjust sweetness to taste—matcha can be slightly bitter, so feel free to add more if you prefer a sweeter drink.
- Heat the Milk (or Froth for Iced Version): If you’re making a hot latte, warm your milk in a small saucepan or microwave until steaming, but not boiling. For a creamier texture, you can froth the milk using a milk frother or whisk. For an iced version, skip the heating and simply froth the cold milk.
- Assemble the Latte: Pour the prepared matcha mixture into a mug or glass. Slowly add the warmed (or frothed) milk. For an iced latte, fill a glass with ice and pour in the matcha and milk.
- Serve and Enjoy: Give the latte a gentle stir, and enjoy your creamy, vanilla-infused matcha latte!
Tips:
- Adjust the amount of matcha if you prefer a stronger or lighter flavor.
- Try experimenting with different types of milk for a unique twist.
- If you’re feeling fancy, top your latte with a sprinkle of matcha or drizzle of vanilla syrup!
